| | | Volveriella replacement Found a pristine Boletus impolitus -Iodine Bolete yesterday
and then when walking past the hollow tree where I found the Volveriella bombycina I looked in and found it had quickly been replaced by -
Could that be a plurotus with a reticulated stem we were talking about recently

It's probably too early yet to say, but going purely by the contrasting colour of cap versus stem, I'm inclined to opt for P. ostreatus.

Having enlarged the photo I can clearly see the reticulation which points clearly to P. cornucopiae, but to me the cap says P. ostreatus and I'm sticking to that (until someone tells me otherwise !)

Neil
I had already catalogued it as ostreatus It was only when I looked at the photo later that I spotted the reticulations

Neil. | I think it looks like P. ostreatus as well BUT also that it's far too young to say anything about at the moment ! Reticulations or otherwise !
Lets see if they (the reticulations) turn into anastomosing gills later on when Mal goes back to view the mature material !
