Help - unidentified fungi (we think?!)

First time we've posted here, so I hope the photos have attached correctly. We found this whilst digging in the garden (in North Wales). There is a clear slime beneath the 'skin' and the kidney like centre. The diameter is between two and three inches. Can only think its some type of fungi but have had no success looking through our books. Can anyone help identify it?

It looks like Phalus impudicus to me The Stinkhorn before it takes on the more recognisable shape.

thanks very much. We've just done some checking and it definitely looks as if you're spot on. There are lots of the impudent little buggers popping up in the woods behind our house at the moment. Its good to know what it is - we were quite perturbed when we first found it!
