| | Can anyone confirm id? A friend of mine identified this fungi for me, but I'd just like to double check.
Thanks

Tracey | Hi Tracey,
I think your friend is absolutely correct with the diagnosis of Pleurotus pulmonarius
The typically very pallid basidiomes are characteristic.
Nick
PS The date on the photo is 17.10.2005 - a bit late for this species in the south (where it's a summer fruiting thing) but not unknown in October - and I suppose if taken in Scotland could be the normal time of fruiting ? But the caption with the photo says Sun. 20th July 2008 !! Confused !!

Confused !! | The date on the photo is correct 17/10/05, the caption date is when I uploaded this photo to the Gallery in the unidentified section I would imagine. The fungi was absolutely beautiful, but my never very good photography didn't do it justice. The chap who identified it told me if I went back to the same site at about the same time that it probably wouldn't be there again. Felt very chuffed to have seen it!
Thanks for confirming id Nick.
