Oozing fungus Id

I was walking on a chalk down near dunstable a couple of years ago and came across this strange oozing fungus. It was a dry hot day and had been for a few days. I haven't found anything like this before and have no idea what it could be. It was about the size of a small orange

I am aware that the bracket fungus Fomitopsis pinicola - Red Banded Polypore displays the trait of exuding clear droplets when fresh but I certainly couldn't establish a positive ID on your specimen based on the information to hand.

Another bracket that starts out life like this is Inonotus dryadeus - the Oak Bracket

So does Inonotus radiatus but it's not that though.

This is probably growing on burried wood, you will just have to keep an eye on it.

Abortiporus biennus also exudes droplets from time to time, when it has been confused with the much rarer Hydnellum ferrugineum & Hydnellum peckii.
