| | | Back Garden Tricholoma? The missus found two of these today whilst tidying in the back garden. Can someone confirm the gill attachment as emarginate (or notched)? They were growing in the soil. I think it may be Tricholoma sp. Comments welcome.

Hi Pete
'Tricholomatoid' rather tha a Tricholoma proper I think.
This is a species of Melanoleuca - the stipe flesh being (or becoming) very dark brown at the base is probably indicative of it being the common Melanoleuca polioleuca (= M. arcuata in the sense of various authors) but this genus is desperatelly in need of taxonomic revision, and the literature available at present is very confused.
