A to Z - new entries

Recently there has been such a spate of confirmed identifications arising in the Fungi Forums that the dedicated team of A to Z editors (me and Rich ) have been overwhelmed to keep up to date. So I make the suggestion that if members have a species confirmed on the forum please create an entry on the listings even if it is only to upload the image(s) in question. An 'Additional Note' referring to the relevant thread would be a bonus so that the editors can pick up on the salient details at a later date.

My thanks too Nick.

For others who are still thinking about this I posted the following in another thread earlier:

All you need to do is check in the A-Z to see if there is an entry for the sp. you are uploading:

List of British Fungi by Scientific Name | Wild About Britain

If not in the A-Z then

http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/node/add/fungi

Then complete the 'Common Name:' at the top
Browse for your copy of the image on your own hard drive (the same as the one you uploaded to the fungi gallery)
Add the scientific name a little further down the page in the Fact box
Finally page down to the bottom of the page and submit - you might need to wait a while for that to go through though!

David's suggestion of adding a link to an informative thread in the fungi forum in the Additional Note box is a good one - do that if you can. The rest of of the boxes can be left empty unless you are feeling really helpful or your name is Cybershot or NickCantle

Re: A to Z - new entries

I should have added that there is no need to resize your images before uploading a new entry to the A-Z.

So long as your picture meets the gallery requiremnts of at least 800*600 it will be resized automatically.

Stuart, how do I get a pic from the archive to the reference section? or does it have to be uploaded to the gallery first? If so can I move a pic from the archive to the gallery and then up to the reference section?

Thanks

Andy

Re: A to Z - new entries

All WAB images both Archive and Gallery can be transferred directly (no need to save to your PC hard drive) to the Reference section (Fungi of Britain A to Z, etc) by opening an image to full size and right clicking to "Copy Image Location". Paste this into the image Browser option when editing or creating an entry, remember to click "Upload" which when complete can be saved by clicking "Submit"

It seems that the process has changed yet again and there is no "Upload" button anymore so go straight to "Submit" to save your creation/edit.

(as soon as you get accustomed to one method they go and change it .....for the better of course )
