Anston Stones Wood 28/29 June 2008
The majority of brackets to be found in the 'Stones' are Ganoderma applanatum (Artist Bracket). I need help with these more unusual sp found this w/e.
I could not make up my mind as to mazegill or not. However, I now consider Daedaleopsis confragosa to be a possibility. It looks like it is a well established sp on this cut down trunk, as there are many old specimens that have either fallen off, or have been knocked off, laying on the ground.
(terrible background

) This bracket was growing on a standing trunk of a copiced tree, that had been broken off above the bracket. The hint of colour may suggest that it is not yet developed.
I always think I am about to be fooled by a Trametes versicolor.
Am I ?
