| | | Unknown Fungi for ID please Anston Stones Wood 14 June 2008
Found a group of these fungi growing on a fallen tree trunk
I assume that they are different stages in the formation of the fungi. But in what order do they develop?
Your comments and observations welcomed

Les | I initially thought a member of the Lycogala genre, going by form and colour change. But that isn't much help, earlier in the week i posted what looked like tiny lycogala (pink), two days later they were the shinny black balls of a trichia.sp (i think) which i now know look orange when they burst open, so the colour change is quite remarkable (often overnight) and i wouldn't be suprised it the initial plasmodial formation was white as we have found elsewhere.
keep taking the excellent photo's, we may have a better understanding by well! (think of a timescale, it's bound to be to short).

Is it possible that the red Myco has been dispersed over the area, with some forming on the wood, whilst those that have landed on the brown fungi (Lycogala?), have also developed there and "eaten" into the fungi. There do seem to be small spots of the red Myco on the wood, too.
It is hard to tell what process is actually going on.
I think the daddy snail is legging it away in the 3rd image, Neil. He is going so fast, he is blurred

I'm sure we will find plenty more John. Leave the LED behind and bring arc lights.
I'm sure we will have an interesting foray
