| | | Unknown Fungi for ID please Anston Stones Wood (11 June 2008)
Found a large troop growing on fallen trunk & branches at side of stream.
Cap dia 8mm
Slight smell
I rule out Mycena because of brown gills
No signs of deliquescing, there not coprinus
A wild guess at Galerina sp. (hears outbreak of laughter )
Your comments and observations welcomed
Les

Les | Hi Les - no, certainly no outbreak of mirth here !
I think that it's possibly Psathyrella pygmaea actually but had to really think about this one carefully - those crimson-brown gills, the very floccose stipe and the 'jizz' of the thing looks almost right !
But it's very striate on the pileus, which, although correct for the species, they (the striae) are very pronounced and I have never personally seen this species quite that striate !
Beautiful picture !
