| | | Re: Another myxomycete Well done mate. I was thinking seeing as your Myxo isn't getting much notice on a thread on its own, why don't you put it here? That way it's more likely to get a looking. Reminds me actually, I've got a myxo to get IDd!
Be back in a sec!
Here I am!
It was growing inside a hollowed conifer stump. Rough texture on the bit I felt. Apologies for the poor photograph but lighting was difficult without my diffuser.

| | | Re: Another myxomycete Do you know what it is JP? I'll have my Microscope in a couple of weeks- I'm discussing with Michael Jordan what I actually do need- objectives, micrometers, eyepieces
Unfortunately I didn't collect it |

| | | Re: Another myxomycete I would think from the photo that Tubifera ferruginosa was the most likely
but the scope would be needed to confirm.

Mal | Frustrating this fungi lark Bruce Ing gave the confirmation from the photo - it was an exact copy of the drawing in his book. BUT when he got the specimen it tiurned out to be hyphal material which he thinks might have developed a basidiomycete Not sure what that means other than it is not Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa var arbuscula.
Can someone remove it from the A-Z

| | | Re: Another myxomycete Take heart young man, it's excellent that you took this to conclusion, with
such a difficult subject we are all on a steep learning curve and we can only
learn from the result. I'm suffering a complete derth of myxos at the moment,
really want to find a Mucilago.sp to illustrate somebodies queries about them
but sometimes these common species just can't be found.

X20
Appeared today on squashed bunny currants, could be a species of Physarum but need to await development as they include sessile species or this could develop into a stem and cappalitium.

At last it looks like Mucilago crustacea has appeared, have left them to
mature and will then try for some microscopy.
