Found growing at the base of an ancient Oak tree
Thought it might be Southern Bracket - Ganoderma australe

Les | You may well be right Les, but it could also be Ganoderma applanataum - microscopy needed, and this specimen is immature as evidenced by the (as yet) 'non-poroid' pore surface.
