Unknown Russula for ID please
Sherwood Forest (Birklands) 8 June 2008
Found a small group growing under the Centre Tree





Grouped together three age bands in first pic, and youngest and largest for gills, hoping it will help with an ID

Substrate soil
Cap 50mm dia could not peel
Stem 90 x 3-5mm brittle no milk
Gills brittle
Smell slightly mushroomy

I am wondering now if I have mixed up two sp

Thats a Psathyrella sp you have there.

I agree, and probably Psathyrella candolleana in one of its numerous 'forms' !
