| | | Unknown Fungi for ID please Sherwood Forest (Birklands) 7 June 2008
All found growing on a fallen branch (75mm dia) under Oak tree
The first specimen was 25x15mm soft & spongy
The older specimen was 45x30mm
Can not hazard a guess for this one. The only pink polypore I could find was Jelly Rot.
Your comments and observations welcomed

Not totally sure but I think it is probably Phlebia tremullosa.

| | | Re: Unknown Fungi for ID please I would agree, you can just make out the start of the white surround.

It may have pores Les, but isn't a polypore - rather the rarely recorded poroid corticioid species Gloeoporus dichrous by the look of it, which is normally found on old, fallen branches of oak - you didn't by any change manage to get some material by any chance ??
If so, it should be dried off and sent to Kew for confirmation !

Now confirmed by Kew as Hapalopilus nidulans
