ID needed please

Spotted whilst on a walk along a river-bank. It was on part of a tree trunk that had been cut down and left. Sorry didn't look to see which tree maybe beech. My daughter asked me what it was and all I could tell her was "bracket fungus"! Hence this request.

Your bracket fungus is Dryad's Saddle - Polyporus squamosus. Nice find.
