Oh, and by the way, recently it was announced that scientists have now discovered that fungi are more related to man than plants, need I say more ?

Yes it's for real, and yes it is a hatched witches egg, there is also the dog version Mutinus caninus which will no doubt be posted in the Autmn when they appear.

People cut the witches egg in half, remove the fruit body which has'nt errupted and eat it, (apparntly some where between cabbage stalk and nuts as far as taste goes, (i hav'nt tried them)).

Neil.

Fungi are closer in evolution to humans than plants, as fungi don't photosynthasise (i.e. gain energy from sunlight), fungi don't use the same chemicals for cell structure as plants, and fungi release enzymes to break down their food before they absorb it (same as us). All really interesting stuff.
