Sordid? Now what are you up to?

Anyway, it could well be a Phellinus - assuming it was orange brown and poroid - but there are a few similar ones, so you will never know for sure.

To me, it looks like a small specimen (coz it's a small twig) of Phellinus ferruginosus.
