Question Re: First Bolete

Isn't it a bit early in the season for an autumnal boletes?

Suillus luteus are listed as Sep-Oct in my field guide.

Fungi are not always well behaved. I recently saw a paper by some Israelis on a patch of Morels that fruited most of the year.

Re: First Bolete

Re: First Bolete

Fungi don't read the books and can fruit at unusual times. I have found boletus edulis and various Leccinum species in early May, but haven't found any boletes this year yet.

EWWWWW

You do make me laugh Neil

Nick

P.S- Once I find my footing at home (Before Autumn) I'll check out the Norfolk Fungus Group and see if any cogs are turning. If not, I might try and oil a few people If that doesn't work, Suffolk Fungus Group here I come

Which ever group you mix in with Nick on your return, I'm sure you will be welcomed with open arms.

Neil.

PS. In fear of being told off for diverting from the thread, did you get those mandibles out ?

Naughty funghi.. messing with the laws of nature

Possibly it would be worth starting a thread on "out of season funghi", further proof of global warming perhaps, especially after the heatwave today!!

I'm meltiiiiiiing!!

Re: First Bolete

I'd be up for that thread, as long as it doesn't gradually degrade into another pointless debate about global warming
