Is this Verpa conica?
Growing under hawthorn I assume that the 'thimble' has spit as the rather deformed stipe grows leaving part of the 'thimble' on the ground and the rest at the top of the stipe???

Yes, most likely, the texture of the stem and cap are correct. |
