| | | Spring Forays and Summer Months I’m not sure how many fungus groups hold a spring foray or indeed individuals go out mushroom hunting this time of year but I guess with the recent wet weather conditions the results could be quite interesting. The normally accepted idea that fungi can only be found during the autumn should really be put to rest in my opinion. I personally think that the months between February and July are vastly under recorded
At Clumber we have a private foray around this time of year and it is always surprising what is found. Also, June and July of last year saw many varieties of species, especially of Inocybe and Cortinarius species on Lime Tree Avenue ... OK, many are still unidentified but what the heck
So, for everyone waiting for September … wait no more, get your boots on and get out there

| | | Re: Spring Forays and Summer Months I was definitely worried about not seeing anything of mycological interest this spring but I think that because as you say, it seems under-recorded, quite a few species are more than significant. We're off to Greenham in the morning (David, J.P and I) to see what we can find- so we're still getting out there! |

| | | Re: Spring Forays and Summer Months Been out in the local woods and the New Forest on a regular basis over the last couple of months. Plenty of birds, deer etc. to photograph but not a fungi to be found. Perhaps this current deluge of water will prompt a few to stick there heads up.

| | | Re: Spring Forays and Summer Months I'm rather surprised by the number of species this Spring. There's loads of Morchella semilibera and Disciotis venosa, many species of Ink Cap, some Verpa conica, Paxina acetabulum and some Pluteus chrysophaeus. I found some nice Pluteus petasatus (subject to checking) on a hay bale yesterday evening, and some Peziza repanda. Oh and a Cordyceps gracilis which should now be at RBG Kew. |

| | | Re: Spring Forays and Summer Months I'm suprised, there is this thread waiting for a post and nick C hasn't mentioned the first species cybershot photographed today (what a find), nor has nick mentioned the blades of grass protruding between Calocybe gambosa, so far i have 26 on our list for the day, certainlly worth looking this time of year, (thanks for your company today), still drying my clothes, expect cybershot is still cooking his collection.

| | | Re: Spring Forays and Summer Months Well J.P, you're under an odd impression that I wasn't eager to report to all our possible find
I refer you here my good man Fomitopsis pinicola
Was a cracking day indeed mate, and thanks for showing us around the patch You were right about the St. George's and that Laetiporus was amazing. David's face was a picture
