Identification please

I know very little about lichen but noticed a lot of these growing in my local woods. Any help please as I would like to put a name to it. I have checked the gallery but two or three look similar but not identical.

Might be Usnea cornuta.

It's a species of Usnea Ron, but without the fertile structures (which this lacks) you probably cannot identify it further - one of the most difficult genera of lichens to identify !

Thanks for the replies folks. There is a hell of a lot of this stuff in my local wood, especially in the damp parts. At least I can put a name to it now. Know what you mean Kayleigh. When I first spotted them I thought it was a nest.
