| | | Day out near Guildford On Friday I had a day out near Guildford hoping to spot Morchella esculenta. Of course I did not succeed, but I have now spotted every type of ' Morel' apart from a Morel. Still, there were some interesting finds which included...
Laetiporus sulphureus ( Chicken of the Woods). Young and growing on yew
A sea of Ramsons
Mitrophora semilibra - one of eight around an ash tree
Another Chicken of the Woods. Again young and on yew
Verpa conica (I think) - one of 12 around a hazel tree. The first for me
Calocybe Gambosum (St George's) - all over the place. I picked 193! Slow Worm. Not a fungus, but it shows how hard I was looking! |

Nick | Hello Nick,
Yes, I enjoyed it! Hardly saw another person - all very relaxing. I think I am getting better at the photo taking too
PS - the 'hazel' for V conic is a mistake (I am a bit dyslexic). The sentence should read: "Verpa conica (I think) - one of 12 around a hawthorn tree. The first for me"
