I would say the second could be a Gomphidius (Chroogomphus) rutilus or might just be glutinosus which has paler gills but is rare

Shussshh pete. I didn't want anyone to know it's a bumper spring here too

The recent rain is having a good effect locally

Thanks Mal. I was searching for the Herald of Winter which had been seen a few days earlier at Clumber. I didn't locate where it was found but found this instead.

My recent finds include Amanita fulva. Getting hungry for "Chicken of the Woods" but cannot find any in my local sites

Re: Whilst the season has slowed down

No. 2 looks likes a Hygrophorus hypothejus to me.

No. 3 is in the Lepista/Clitocybe area. I'm not much help I'm afraid.

Thanks Leif. I was hoping to find the Hygrophorus hypothejus which had been found a few days before, but the gills on this didn't quite add up somehow.

Re: Whilst the season has slowed down

I agree with you John although I am always dubious about disagreeing with Leif The hypothejus that I find regularly have much yellower gills and also in a young specimen like this it usually has a pink area at the top of the stipe.

Hi John !

No. 1 = Galerina sp ! If I could emoticon hysterical mirth I would - no chance of doing these without (or even with !?) a microscope !! So an will have to do !

No. 2 = Hygrophorus hypothejus as already suggested.

No. 3 = ?????? - I wanted to suggest a Lepista but can't think of any with gills like that except L. flaccida and it's not that !! (Hence it's probably not a Lepista !!)

I shall muse further on it !

Nick

Thanks Nick

I guessed the galerina would be impossible without microscopic detail

Im pleased with the Hygrophorus hypothejus. At least now I know how varied the gills can be

I'll shut up now whilst you muse

John

Re: Whilst the season has slowed down

Well I'm delighted that Hygrophorus hypothejus exists - I never knew there was a fungi that bears my name
Perhaps there are others out there who's specific epithet mirrors someone else on the forum - Hygrocybe johnipes has a nice ring to it...
