Nordic Macromycetes, Volume 2

I have had an email from NHBS saying that Nordic Macromycetes, Volume 2, second edition has not actually been published yet and is due 07/2008. Have to wait and see.

As far as I know there isn't a definite date for the updated edition of Marcel Bon's book yet.

Thanks for that, Richard. As I said, I'd been planning to order a copy but I may as well wait and see now. Keep us posted.

Marcel Bon's new book has been promised for years. I'm not hopeful of seeing it any time soon.

It's just a shame there aren't any really good portable field guides (ie not Roger Phillips or Michael Jordan) in print at the moment. Several are promised but who knows when.

I'm running a one day training course for the Cheshire Wildlife Trust in October but the field guides I would recommend are all out of print, which can be a bit frustrating when people's enthusiasm has just been fired up by a training course and then they find they can't get the book they need.

Do you mean Edition 2 Ken? ... new edition of the superb Marcel Bon field guide to European mushrooms and toadstools.

NHBS have a provisional date of November this year for publication of Edition 2 of Marcel Bon's book...

...but they said, and I quote, "we are not holding our breath". Now where have I heard that before?

When was that Ken? The November publication sign has now been removed from the site. I've just ordered a copy. I'll keep everyone posted on the progress

The new book is still being worked on and may be called "Funga Nordica" in its new extended form.

I rang them today after your first post. NHBS said the publication has been promised for a long time now with no sign of a firm publication date.

So you may have a long wait for your order to be processed.

Sorry to change the subject but I saw 5 clouded yellows a few years ago all at once. Quite unusual seeing as they are immigrants. Before this I had only ever seen them one at a time but always on the coast. Whats that got to do with fungi

Well they breed in the UK now, at least as far north as Notts!

Yes, The Acknowledgement of Order email arrived shortly after ... It looks like my own book may be on the shelves before Bonn
