Thanks for your comments everyone. They are much appreciated.
The main problem with this method is that when new species are found … how can they be easily placed inside an existing graphics image and still be in alphabetical order. Answer … They can’t really
What is more feasible, but unfortunately expensive in terms of programming is to change the way our A to Z works with regard to displaying images.
WAB is based on what they call a CMS … Content Management System … The whole infrastructure is based upon a designed interface. This interface deals with input, output, web page design, browser integration etc etc … It’s Huge and in many circumstances expensive. Anyway, enough of the technical jargon … we’re here for fungi

What I have planned is to batch process all our main gallery images to the correct size for a 20 image file. I shall then place them in genus order. This will mean that some pages may not be full or some may start off alphabetically and then go into random mode … that’s life I’m afraid. However a future version of our CMS may allow us to deal with this more efficiently … but don’t hold your breath
Anyway, it’s a start and I’m sure people will find it useful.
Regarding a few comments … Jenny .. you should know better
You have to remember, there are many people on here who have spent a large part of their lives learning about fungi. I don’t judge myself to be anything other than a photographer (35 years experience) and a keen amateur who forays almost 2 full days a week, every week and spends several hours each day reading about fungi and gazing down the eyepiece of a microscope …. Plus doing WAB and the occasional house work
So, just to remind you … you don’t always get it wrong and it’s good that you do bother because we all appreciate your contribution however small you think it might be. Your images are excellent too!
Best Wishes – John
