| | | Re: WAB Clumber Fungi Foray 2008 OK folks with the bad news regarding the availability of the Base Camp, and if we can't all get into PMG's camper, then it's every man for himself as far as accommodation is concerned. Vicky has supplied some hotel and B&B contacts. At the moment this only applies to Nick and I.

I wonder if Pauline's camper van is big enough for four | Been away for a couple of days (photographing Badgers ) unfortunately camper is a little old VW that sleeps two......... I don't think spending the night sat up in the two front seats is an option, pity we don't still have dads which would have taken 4.......... We need Hobjob and his 'big rigg' from Suffolk
Right so its Clumber Caravan Park for us hopefully - I don't suppose it will be booked up then?

Pauline | Too right Pauline, Nick and I would never have expected that sort of sacrifice from you; but nice of you to suggest it anyway

David | Finally had a phone call today about my Base Camp enquiry from a very apologetic and helpful guy called Jeff Dodds who apparently has taken over that particular responsibility from Roy Turner: Shame the Estates Office' staff weren't up to speed with the organisation. Never mind, the esteem of Clumber Park is now restored in my books.

David | Good to hear that David
Can I just remind people to let me have their email address (by pm ... message not time! ) so I can send maps and other useful information.
Nearer the time we can finalise the meeting times / routes. This is important as on the day(s) mobile phone coverage is very limited
With all the recent rain, Clumber is currently teeming with Fungi At the wildlife event last weekend I did a mini 'summer' fungi stand and it was easy to pick about 20 different species in 2 hours by just walking up one side of a section of Lime Tree Avenue.
I promise a good weekend

| | | Re: WAB Clumber Fungi Foray 2008 Just to let everyone know that I won't now be able to make the WAB Clumber Foray, just in case anyone might have been on the lookout for me. Going to be busy with other things I fear.
I've also noticed simmering tensions in the fungi forum recently, brought to a head by Leif's misinterpretation of a comment of mine which was in no way intended to be a personal put down, but that's just a symptom of a wider issue.
Quite frankly I don't have the time or the patience to be contributing to a forum in these circumstances. So I'll say my farewells here to all you friends I never did meet.
It's been an experience and I hope you have many more fungi seasons of pleasure from WAB. All the best.

Ken | I'm so sorry to hear this Ken. Please have a re-think.
Your input along with others has had such an impact on the forum. I'm sure whatever has been said can be resolved.
Best Wishes - John |

So sorry to see you go Ken.
