| | | Distorted orange-peel, Melastiza cornubiensis ? I found the fungi shown below growing on dead gorse, Alyth Hill, Perthshire, last week. They don't exactly match anything in my books, but using the WAB fungi reference site, they look like Melastiza cornubiensis.
Am I right ?
Thanks for any comments
Mark

Two of my books show Tremella mesenterica but it is pale yellow. I would never have guessed it would turn such a rich orange.
Well, I can label my pix correctly now, with confidence.
Thanks again,

Mark | I find it starts off orange when young & fades to yellow as it ages & as it breaks down goes clear. |

I don`t know about tremella mesenterica Mark but I havecome across melastiza. It usually grows on bare soil so I don`t think you would find it growing on gorse.
Incidentally can anyone tell me the difference between melastiza cornubiensis and melastiza chateri because I have been led to both names when trying to ID.
Cheers
