| | | Leafy Brain Fungus? Took this pic yesterday at a very wet Salcey Forest. This fungus was approximately 4" long and apart from it's brown colouring, was very similar in general appearance to Tremella mesenterica.
The only close match I could find in Jordan was Tremella foliacea . As I have never previously seen T. foliacea I would appreciate confirmation of id before uploading the image to the Gallery.

| | | Re: Leafy Brain Fungus? I wonder whether the two different species of snail beautifully captured in the shot were actually feeding on the fungus, or perhaps feeding on bacteria or something else living on the surface of the fungus, or even just passing through.
I guess you'd have to wait around for quite a long time with snails to be sure.
I remember being surprised last year by the number of beautiful dark shiny Dor Beetles I found feeding on Russulas. I hadn't realised they were fungi fans.

Ken - I've just started to "read up on" and photograph land snails - when I manage to spot them that is! More often than not it's only when I come to load pics of fungi onto the computer that I notice there were snails to be photographed .
I've just ordered a folding magnifying glass in the hope that it'll help me spot them in the future.
