ID? Blewit?
I found a Mushroom walking by a rotten treestump, my daughter pulled it loose before I could stop her and I wondered what it was and can I eat it.

It is as big a casserole dish and very concave, it is spongy on the underside and smells of potatoes, any ideas?

Well, i'm afraid there's simply not enough information to give an ID which means that there's definitely not enough information to even consider eating it. If you could supply some photos, we might be able to have a go.
