| | | Cup shaped fungus I found this fungus in late Nov. growing on rotting wood,at Darwin Forest in Derbyshire. I thought it was quite distinctive and would be easy to pin down. However, how wrong I was, I`ve gone through my Jordan from cover to cover several times and trawled the internet for hours, (its amazing how the time flies) but nothing seems to quite fit it. Can anyone give me a starting point, group or family name?. |

I would hazard a guess that its a Lactarius: tabidus maybe but its hard to say for sure from a photo. If you had drawn a finger nail across the gills it may have produced a while milk (or for certain sps coloured milk - yellow - tho some only yellows on a white hankie or tissue 10 mins or so after being in the fresh air). This sp may have been getting to old to produce milk - the cap is bending right up which is pretty typical for ageing Lactarius.
