| | | Re: mycena sp? ID help! I'm pretty sure it's not Pura. Pura is pink or lilac and definitely recognisable by these attributes...
However, I could be wrong and this could be a young, dry Mycena Pura...
Still don't think it is though...As Mal said, it's all down to Macroscopics from here

It can be found in grassy glades in woodland but it is not a leaf litter species.
With small brownish or greyish specimens of Mycena you really are on a hiding to nothing with just a photo. You are missing crucial information such as whether it had a smell and the gill attachment. Really, as others have said, you can only be sure of the identity with microscopy (unless of course it produces latex from the stem - might have been worth snapping the stem just to see ). |

Nick | What features convinced you this was Mycena aetites Nick? It looks a lot like Mycena galopus to me at first glance and the habitat doesn't look quite right for Mycena aetites.

| | | Re: mycena sp? ID help! Well, considering it didn't seep latex upon the stem breaking, I ruled out galopus earlier. The only one I could find in the book that vaguely sounded right was aetites. I'm just going to refrain from photographing Mycena I see what you mean about the habitat though...Not right.
