It could be honey fungus as you say, but the absence of a ring on the stipe confuses me. I'd wait for the pros! Sorry I couldn't be much help!

| | | Re: Unidentified... possible honey fungus It's definitely not Honey Fungus. It is a Pholiota, possibly P. aurivella. There are several similar Pholiota species which you need to check to be sure, though P. aurivella is the commonest. |

I am pretty sure it is P. aurivella or P. adiposa. The latter has an apical ring, so you could indeed have the former.
