| | | Re: Fungi ID please Hygrocybe psittacina is very variable, and I have seen green, yellow, pink and white ones. In all cases the very top of the stem showed a trace of green, which was the clue to the species.
The second species is of course a Cortinarius which is a huge genus, and very hard without good literature, except in a few cases where colours are distinct, or you are familiar with the species. I know a few, but not yours.
The third species is some sort of bracket such as Daedaleopsis confragosa.
The fourth species is confusing. How big was the cap? The obvious possibility is Lepista nuda, but I am dubious, and wonder if you have an Entoloma species, especially given the long stem, pink gills, and grassland habitat.
The last one might be a Tawny Funnel Cap.
Take a look at FungiJohn's excellent notes at the top of the forum. They should be of help. |

The species on the paper was taken when I got home. Was down a lane with deciduous trees and some birch nearby.I had a lovely specimen and the leader passed it around and I never saw it again and I cant for the life of me remember what she said it was.My friend gave me this one so I could photograph it.I went back to the small crowd to take a photo after I lost my specimen and some clumsy clots had stepped on the lot |

| | | Re: Fungi ID please Then I think the purple one is an Entoloma, and Entoloma nitidum is a possibility, though I am not familiar with it. It would be a nice find. |

| | | Re: Fungi ID please The first is Hygrocybe psittacina var perplexa which used to be regarded as a separate species - Hygrocybe perplexa. It is always some shade of red with no trace of green, and the cap and stem are both sticky or glutinous.
As Leif has said, H. psittacina is very variable and you can find all sorts of colour variations. I found a few specimens last weekend which were entirely pink (I'll post these and some other Waxcap images in the Gallery when I eventually have time) with no green colour at all. However, these pink specimens are still within the normal range of H. psittacina var psittacina. It is only the entirely red versions that are regarded as var perplexa.
I agree with the suggestions of Hygrocybe virginea (old specimens and it's not clear whether they are one particular variety or another) and Lepista flaccida.
The Entoloma doesn't have enough blue colouration to be Entoloma nitidum. It looks like a brown and fairly non-descript species which would be difficult, if not impossible, to pin down from a photo.
The bracket is probably Daedaleopis confragosa, as has been suggested. There isn't enough information to take the others any further.
