| | | Stumpy Fungi...ID needed Never found anything like this before ...growing under some Birch trees in my local park...at first didnt notice it had to pull back the grass around it ..The stem was at least half inch in the soil...It was about 5cms high and the cap was around 2.5 cms across..
Help with ID would be appreciated..

| | | Re: Stumpy Fungi...ID needed It is a young Leccinum species. It does not look like Variicolor as it lacks the stippling on the cap. The stem is rather dark, but I would be tempted to say L. scabrum. That would not be far wrong anyway. |
