| | | Unusual Fungi My daughter found this one on our last outing. The colour was quite eye catching and what I would describe as fluorescent lime green, it was so bright I would expect it to glow in the dark.
Each individual growth was approx.1cm in diameter and under magnification looked like a small sponge. It was growing on a decaying branch, most likely Beech.
Would be over the moon if someone could ID it.

| | | Re: Unusual Fungi I can't believe I have all the WAB fungi experts beaten with this one. Surely someone must be prepared to offer a few suggestions as to possible ID.
I wondered if it was a slime mold in the early stages of development.

Gerry | Hi Gerry
Your myxomycetes is Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa. Probably var. porioides

| | | Re: Unusual Fungi Thanks and well done John
Ceratiomyxa fruiticulosa var.porioides looks to be spot on.
I got as far as determining it was a slime mold of sorts but could not get any further with it.
Will be able to sleep at night now.
