Re: Baked Bean Id Needed

Ian - Looks very similar to tubifera ferruginosa but I'd hang on for a real Myxo expert to confirm identification.

Excellent photos by the way.

Re: Baked Bean Id Needed

I found what to me looks like the same thing in August although I cannot remember if it was ever identified

All I know is it is still in the unidentified fungus section

I found this in the gallery

http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/ga...ge.php?i=48810

like Bruce says it looks like "tubifera ferruginosa"

the other similar looking baked beans are "dacrymyces deliquescens"

California Fungi: Dacrymyces deliquescens

Re: Baked Bean Id Needed

Tubifera ferruginosa has my vote, comes in shades of orange through to pink turning grey-brown on maturity. Have known it to be mistaken for snails eggs on more than one occasion.
