Heathland Fungi ID
2 Fungi found on Ashdown Forest....any ideas?

I think the first is Pholiota alnicola, which I suspect is often confused with Sulphur Tuft, and they sometimes grow together to confuse matters. Note the small pointy umbo on the cap, and the reddish stem base. I presume it was on dead (possibly buried) wood?

I think the second is Paneolus sphinctrinus.

So you think this is Sulphur Tuft or not? It was a very vibrant yellow colour.

No. Pholiota alnicola. It's fairly common this year.
