| | | Horse Fungi Hi guys
Found 3 horse mushrooms (Agaricus arvensis) in button stage today and some others just starting to emerge. One of the buttons I cut (which was already broken off) was maggoty (those bloomin maggots).
The rain we had on Tuesday must have encouraged them to pop up but I'm surprised its taken 4 days. Still this bodes well for my other horsie patch, which I will have to check soon. |

| | | Re: Horsie horsie Ah Nick I'm gutted. Went to our hot spot for Bay Boletus today thinking we were going to get loads, took big basket too and not a one.
Some actually came up around July time (forgot to make a note of date doh) and I'm wondering whether thats them done now for the year... no surely not.
How's it in your area Nick, found any juicy ceps yet or still waiting? Have you had any rain yet? |

| | | Re: Horse Fungi We had a massive downpour on what I think was Tuesday...from going out yesterday, it looks like it's done the fungi the world of good. As for the Ceps, I haven't seen any yet, but I'm not sure of where they grow around here. Obviously as I'm new in this area, I'll have to get myself a patch established as soon as possible. I found a really tightly packed birch patch with loads of Amanita Muscaria yesterday and I have a feeling that there could be a few popping up there. It's frustrating not being able to pop home to Norfolk to check my patches there. I'll bet someone else has snagged all of the monsters!
Nick
PS, keep me posted on the progress of your various patches |

PS, keep me posted on the progress of your various patches | Went out today and found a load of shaggy ink caps at various stages of development. Did I pick some I hear you ask... of course I did and made a nice mushroom soup.
There were some old Horse Mushrooms under the usual bush but they were too far gone unfortunately. Still I'm happy!! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
