Hi, I came across a yellow plant/fungi which looks alot like a sea anemone, bright yellow with lots of 'prongs'. It was growing on open grassland on a common in Hertfordshire. Unfortunately I had no camera and won't be able to find it again! I've never seen anything like it, and any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. |

The only ones I have found in my books from your description are the Ramaria family (Yellow tipped Coral) but they are normally found in woodlands.Sorry I cant help anymore but there are a few people on here that are experts so someone will know.Fungi John is one of them

Hi karina, it could be a Yellow Staghorn fungus - Calocera viscosa. As cherrybee says , take a look in the Gallery, there are plenty to choose from there, and amazing images to enjoy while you are looking- welcome to WAB . |

Unless it was growing on buried wood, it is likely to be one of the yellow Clavulinopsis species that grow on soil in grassland.
