| | | Beige Fungi in Coniferous Forest This was found growing on the ground in coniferous forest near Inverness. I think it might be Amanita rubescens but I am no expert. Can anyone confirm or suggest otherwise. Many thanks. Phil. |

Having said that, it was the right setting for conditions at that time as there was a cloudy and it was dark in the forest. At least it seems pretty sure it is an Amanita of some sort. Thanks for the interest. Phil. |

Welcome to WAB btw | Yes, as far as I can recall the photograph is a fairly accurate record of the colour. I have not seen another like it and according to some guides Amanita rubescens is only found in deciduous forest which is why I am rather puzzled. Phil. |

It's definately an Aminita by the looks of it but I think that is as far as you will get for id.
(Lovely pic btw) |

(Lovely pic btw) | Thanks for that information and for the link. I have now also checked the 'First Nature' website as well and they say it is common in coniferous woodland. Thanks also for the welcome. My main hobby is photography and at this time of year I take a lot of mushroom photos but it is only recently I have started to identify them. I suspect there may be other requests for assistance before long. Thanks again to all who have helped. Phil. |
