| | | Not much doing at Delph Wood Went to Delph Wood today where we've seen chanterelles, ceps and hedgehog fungus before, but no such luck. What we did see though was a nice young honey fungus, a slightly battered panther or blusher (not sure which) and some grey Russulas, which were really beautiful (I'm not sure if they were charcoal burner) and a single pleurotus (?) again not sure. I really should swat up I've got lots of books, its just lack of time and laziness.
I didn't have my camera because frankly its pants. I need a decent camera and am thinking about the Olympus SP-560 UZ which is coming out on 26 Oct. I'm a novice and have only had cameras that aren't brilliant so I think its time I invest in something better. I know its not just down to the camera used but the experience and technique deployed to get good snaps so if I do get one I'll have to do lots of practice and reading of the manual (eek) as this camera has lots on it. Perhaps then I'd be able to post a few pics that I'm not ashamed of.
Cheers

Sarah | Hi Sarah
Yes, things are a bit up and down with some locations at the moment.
The review on this camera looks very good. Olympus have a good reputation and their instruction manuals do tend to be better produced ... always helps
I think you have made a good choice

In fact other than those above, and countless False Deathcap, all I have to show today for five hours around Minley, Hawley and Yateley Common in Hampshire is a Fly Agaric and an Ink Cap. But it was such a glorious day perhaps I was just enjoying the walk.

| | | Re: Not much doing at Delph Wood Hi guys
Thanks Solus, I have already had a peek at FungiJohn's excellent photography post and will definitely be reading it in more detail once I've got a decent camera.
John, its good to hear that Olympus provide a good manual, I'm definitely going to need that. And thank you John for your excellent photography post, I know that's going to be very helpful when the time comes.
Hiya Cazzie. Your Panasonic FZ8 has good reviews too. I don't know its just mind boggling reading up about all these cameras and trying to decide on the best one. But I think my mind is set on the Olympus - mind you I've got until 26 Oct. so plenty of time to mull it over.
David you're right, it was a beautiful day yesterday and even though we didn't find much, the walk was wonderful. I haven't even seen my first Fly Agaric this year so looking forward to that.
Cheers
