| | It took it's time didn't it!? Hey fellow fungi enthusiasts!!!
It's taken its time, but boy, it looks like autumn has set in. With more pictures going into the Gallery on a more regular basis now, it is evident that our (Or mine at least) favourite time of the year is about to begin. So I would like to say to everyone here, happy hunting and let's fill that Gallery.
From going on an fungi walk with David (and his lovely dog ) yesterday, I realised how good it was to walk and talk with someone else who holds an interest as much as myself. I'd say to everyone that hasn't already, try and get yourself into some forays or go on walks with other fungi enthusiasts! The benefits of this? You learn from them and whether it be in a photographic way, or in a mycological way, this sure is no bad thing.
I always look forward to getting home of an evening after Uni and looking at the Gallery to see new submissions and photographs of fascinating fungi (and the less fascinating ones of course...I think the rooting shank gets that prize )But yes, I remember last year, everytime I refreshed, there were new posts and new pictures. Hopefully, the autumn will also bring back some our regular fungi chaps who we don't see too much of when the fungi isn't in full flourish.
Well, that's my little speech over! But seriously, get out there, embrace nature, and have some good fun
Let's make this an autumn on WAB to remember...

| | | Re: It took it's time didn't it!? I fully endorse Nick's sentiments and encourage others, whatever their interests, to get out and about in the company of like-minded people. It certainly increases your understanding not to mention the spotting success ratio. Though obviously early days yet, I think for a leisurely few hours strolling around Minley Wood, Nick and I did quite well with the following list:
Suillus bovinus
Calocera viscosa
Phallus impudicus
Amanita citrina (and A. citrina var alba)
Amanita rubescens
Amanita vaginata
Amanita fulva
Amanita muscaria
Amanita spissa (?)
Russula various (incl: R. emetica, R. mairei, R. sardonia, R. cyanoxantha)
Auricularia auricula-judae
Galerina vittiformis (?)
Hypholoma fasciculare
Scleroderma (By the truckload)
Grifola frondosa
Tricholoma album
Tricholoma sulphureum
Clitocybe dealbata (?)
Cantherellus cibarius
Hydnum repandum
Leccinum scabrum
Geastrum triplex
Lactarius turpis
Pleuteus cervinus
Brackets various incl: Daedaleopsis confragosa
We both hope to be attending the next 'Shrooms (ABFG) foray at Tweseldown, Hants.
