| | | weird and wonderful stuff Hi all, i wonder, does anyone have any site infor for the following fungus groups?
Earthstars other than geastrum triplex, the cage fungi and those wonderful devils finger / starfish fungi types.
I have been into fungi for years and would love to see these so if anyone has any info as to where i might look or even fungal contacts (doesnt sound wholesome at all does it eh?) who might know or perhaps would be very very kind and pehaps show me if they appear...that would be really good. Cheers all, in advance Dave. |

| | | Re: weird and wonderful stuff You can search the GB checklist here: http://194.203.77.76/fieldmycology/G...ecordID=%22%22
The records should give you an idea of where to look.
Some of these species (e.g. the Clathrus) grow with introduced hosts, so it's worth looking in botanical gardens, arboreta - even garden centres. |

Page 4 Exidia thuretiana - this may be Exidia nucleata judging by the shape?
Page 5 Boletus rubellus - your photo looks more like Boletus badius.
Page 8 Bjerkandera adusta - this species does not have distinctive traces of blue colouration. Your photo shows either Postia caesia, if on conifer wood, or Postia subcaesia if on hardwood.
Page 11 Inocybe - the cap and gills are not quite right for an Inocybe. Your specimen was either Pluteus cervinus, with a pink spore print, or Megacollybia platyphylla, with a white spore print. Without a good shot of the gills and their attachment to the stem I can't say which.
Page 12 Pleurotus cornucopiae - this species does not have such an intense tawny colour. Your specimen was probably Lepista inversa.

Your photo labelled as the deceiver is in fact a small Lactarius. The gills are too closely spaced and the texture of the cap and stem are not right for Laccaria laccata. Still a beautiful shot though.
