The National Trust nationwide waxcap survey, Waxcap Watch, is starting this autumn. The Trust are asking visitors to their properties to note where they see waxcaps and then complete the on-line survey. The data will not only be of value to the NT but also to external organisations and scientists.

I'll be visiting Longshaw almost weekly during the main season

NT -‘The Longshaw Estate in Derbyshire has two thirds of all British waxcap species, making it one of the best spots in England for waxcaps.’

If anyone is interested there's a week of fungi related activities at Longshaw w/c 25th October plus my own fungal photography event on the 2nd of November. This event will include a visit to the famous Longshaw meadow to search for waxcaps … not difficult!

You do need to book early though as the events get fully booked quite quickly.

There's also a very good week of fungi forays at Clumber Park too
