Can't see any fungi on your link.
Can you up load the images to the WAB Gallery in the 'forum images' Gallery or 'unidentified' Gallery? |

| | | Re: Fisherman seeking Amadou Not sure what those are (not so hot on fungi) - what you're looking for is Fomes fomentarius
One of these:

| | | Re: Fisherman seeking Amadou I don't know what False Horse Hoof Fungus is. That's the problem with common names that aren't commonly known!
By Horse Hoof Fungus I presume you mean Fomes fomenatarius, for which the "recommended" English name is now Hoof Fungus or Tinder Bracket.
The photos on your website show an old bracket, which is probably too old to identify, and then a lot of new brackets with a distinctive red-brown colouration on top. There isn't really enough information in the photos to give a positive identification but I can tell you that it is not Fomes fomentarius because the shape and colour are wrong for that species.
I suspect that your photos may be of Heterobasidion annosum or Root Rot but this is just a guess based on the red-brown upper surface and white lower surface.

Its not Hoof fungus Fomes fomentarius but might be a Ganoderma.
Don't know if it can be used to dry feathers though. |

| Perhaps too orange-brown for Ganoderma?

| | Re: Fisherman seeking Amadou Thanks for so many forum users replying so quickly, As this was my first post I find it great how friendly and clued up you all are.
This has a positive effect as I think I will research more about what there is in areas that I enjoy walking and fishing.
The down side is I think I will need to take lots more photos of what I find when out and about on the river which means some of you having to read even more posts . |
