| | | Confirm its Turkey Tail.. Both these shots were taken within two feet of each other ...
I would appreciate if someone would confirm that my guess of them both being Turkey Tail. Trametes - versicolor is correct
Many thanx .

the one I can see could be Smoky Bracket ( Burnt Polypore ) - Bjerkandera adusta.

| | | Re: Confirm its Turkey Tail.. The visible photograph here is Trametes pubescens - zoned like T. versicolor but in shades of pale brown and with the white margin. Softer in texture and quickly destroyed by insects.
This is a good photograph of it in a fresh state.

Julie | Trametes pubescens blue-grey??
I'd be very doubtful of blue-grey T. pubscens - so far as I know it is available only in shades of cream to pale brown. (Goes off and checks the standard European monographs on polypores, by Ryvarden & Gilbertson, and by Bernicchia, and stands by this statement.)
(Also recalls he is supposed to be heading south on the M74, logging out after this post.)

I have been unable to id this bracket - approx 8cm across butthin and flimsy - probably only 1mm thick. It was growing with 2 smaller ones on fallen Willow in Notts last week but it has gone now. The brown is darker than in the image above and the white margin is wider but could this be T. pubescens?
Thanks

I know that this is an old post but it seems to have been unanswered !
The polypore is Polyporus durus (= Polyporus badius) and is very common in the late summer to early autumn.
