ID for this please?
About a week ago we spotted this on a sycamore in the field. The tree is living and seems happy enough, but has an area down the trunk which we suspect may be the result of a lightning strike many years ago. The fungus is growing from this exposed scar area.

When we first saw it, it was like this




and remained like that for a few days, then erupted into a true cap and stem....






Not sure where I've hidden my Roger Phillips... so can anyone help me out on an ID for this?

Sorry, haven't got a spore colour or shape result yet.

Hmm. It looks like Volvariella bombycina, but not sure it is.
