Anyone else got one of these through the post recently?

It fits inline on your shower hose where it connects to the taps or to a power shower which is fed by hot water from your boiler and claims to save energy , water & money among other things. It seems to use a fine gauze inside to restrict water flow.

I fitted it before I went to work last night without saying anything to the Wife & daughter. I was asked today what was wrong with the shower as the water pressure seemed down & it took "ages" to rinse their hair and took "ages" to get the temperature right. The pressure seemed adequate enough for me, but I have very short hair.

If they are going to spend longer showering it seems any perceived saving will be lost, and I'd imagine in a hard water area the gauze will become clogged too? Is it something else that is just a good idea in theory?
