My name is Shaz and I was just browsing to look for some Fungi ID's and I stumbled across you all..... so thought I would sign up and join in if I may.

I dont get a lot of time to post much, but I do love taking photos, and taking film footage with my camcorder.. my topic at the moment is that of Fungi and I have some I can't ID so wondered if any of you could help me.. the only trick now is posting photos on here.. I do belong to other forums and posting photos are done via photobucket.. is it the same here?

Well its a bit late, so I will say goodnight for now, and pop back soon

Look forward to getting to know you all

Bye for now

Hello All.
I have a question that I hope someone can answer for me. In my garden shed every spring I have a family of Wrens y Robins who nest there. I was surprised that the Robins allow the Wrens to nest only 2ft from their own nest. After the first year the Wren returned and desperately tried to find a place in the shed to nest, but chose a rag hanging on a nail and the nest fell due to the weight. "Luckily" it fell before any eggs were laid. So I removed the Wrens nest and since then every year they have built a new nest in the same nest box. The Robins nested in the corner the first year. I then decided to make a nest site for them, so I put a large plant pot on it's side and used pieces of wood & other various items to secure it. They nested there the following year:). Back to my question (sorry for my ramblings) Can Robins return & nest in the same old nest? Or like the Wren will it look for a new space to build a new nest? Do I remove or leave the nest? If nobody knows for sure I will have to make another plant pot site.

Hello all :)

I am so glad I found this forum during my wanderings as it is exactly what I have been looking for.

I’ve been interested in wildlife for as long as I can remember and as a child I practically lived in the garden (of my own accord, of course :D). I remember getting excited whenever I found a new kind of wildlife and luckily that feeling has remained with me to this day.

I find insects in particular endlessly fascinating. It’s a completely different world to get lost in and there’s so much left for me to learn.

I am looking forward to exploring this site more fully later on today and finding my niche :)

Looking forward to meeting you all,

Registered yesterday and thought, right, now I can find out the identity of that mysterious flower I found growing on a waste lot. Well I was shaken to find that I could not paste the photo on the site, but equally delighted to find that it was there on the Gallery, a beautiful Antirrhinum. That was a great start and I thank you for it.
I am 77 and have just, only just, developed an interest in photographing wild flowers. I have no transport other than the bus and cannot leave my wife for very long anyway. But am finding many precious gems on the various waste lots and vacant sites scattered throughout Hull. I am so happy. Thanks for letting me in. regards Cypher
