Hi all!

A few firsts for me today....

The first I'm pretty sure is Amanita excelsa var. spissa growing in mixed woodland.

The second I've no idea on - keep flitting between Tricholoma and Clitocybe, in mixed woodland with birch. cap 8cm, cystidia absent, no spore print:mad:.

And the third - Leucopaxillus giganteus? cap 20cm on roadside by mixed woods.

Apologies (again) for the poor photography, I've got a new camera in the post so you won't have to put up with it for much longer!

Cheers, Nick.

Hi folks went for a good walk today, found plenty of fungi about, as usual there were a good few i couldnt id. taken some photos and spore prints so i wondered if i could get some help please! there are more but i'll just stick to four for now.

1 - i think this could be a Pleurotus species, not too sure as i've got very little experience of them. found lots growing up a fissure in a decidious tree ranging in size from a few mm to around 7cm took one back for further study, spore print was White.

2 - think this could be Marasmius wynnei. only got this pic, didnt take any home though the gills were white, and they were growing from a small branch in sycamore/beech leaf litter.

3 - i've posted this species before, growing inside a stump in a clump. spore print reddy-brown and pictured. previous thread with it in is here http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/fo...ew-others.html (third ones down)

and finally 4 - no idea on this, thought it could be an agaric or a cortinarius (though no actual veil remnants may well rule this out) it was growing in short(ish) grass. stood out to me for some reason, i think the speckled yellow-brown cap was the reason. anyway, the spore print was white, ring on stem, 5-7 cm across. check it out!

as always many thanks for any suggestions
cheers
tom:)

Any ideas? Forked, crowded slightly decurrent white gills.

Taken from a wooden pot outside my house, the cut specimen inside for 4 hours, the other taken by flash still in the pot.

Hi,

I found this mushroom growing in a field and it does not bruise when cut. It also has a faint smell of nuts but nothing particularly overpowering. The cap is about 8cm across. I did the checks on roger's mushrooms but didn't come up with any positive results so I looked through the visual key and thought it most resembled a Melanoleuca arcuata Rogers Mushrooms - Melanoleuca arcuata Mushroom. However the gills on my specimen are brown, not white as for the Melanoleuca arcuata.
