I've already got a decent Blackburn rack on the back and the front forks have got 'low-loader' attachments for a rack.

Has anyone got any recommendations for rear and front panniers, front rack and maybe a handlebar bag? I don't want the 'Rolls Royce' version but they have to be decent quality.

I feel the cold - anything below 20C is a bit chilly :) So, having established that fact, I am looking for some warm underwear (women`s or unisex leggings and long-sleeved top) as a base layer for when I am out photographing wildlife this winter. I will probably be inactive for longish periods, so need not be concerned about getting too hot. Also, the underwear must be machine washable. I have tried M&S so-called thermals, but they aren`t warm enough for me, and have looked at some expensive, but beautiful, Merino wool sets (made in New Zealand, I think) which were guaranteed not to stink after 3 weeks of constant wear, but they were hand-wash only (after 3 weeks!?). Any recommendations please?

Thanks

Well, I enjoyed the Coast to Coast Walk, I did in May and I'm planning another crossing in May or June 2010, my 7th one. The cycling trip as been shifted to September and the Coast and Castles ride would only take a week to do.

But, the Coast to Coast Walk is going to be done from east to west this time. I did it in 1992 on a east to west after I had split with my Ex:( and my Mum told me to get a life and get on the Coast to Coast after doing it twice in 1990 and 1991:eek::eek:.

Anyway, when I do the Coast to Coast, I hope to do Striding Edge and High Stile or better still, Pillar.

Gearwise, I will take the flysheet of my new Vango Banshee 300 tent and will be looking to get some The North Face "Hedgehog" shoes.

So early days yet, but with Xmas round the corner. I need to start training after the New Year.

I remember one guy who was cycling down Stockton High Street on a Green Brompton and was laughed at by the local Chavs, probably in places like Oxford, York and London don't have this problem. Maybe us North-Eastners are a bit behind the times, although the Bromptons have been out for donkey's years.
Do you think, I need to go easy for a few months, say 5 miles a week. What's the best trainers to wear, although I've a pair of The North Face Resilience shoes. It's lately on my Sunday long walks, I've been sluggish. Thought running may perk me up.

Well, since I did a walk in Northumberland the other week-end, I've fell in love with it's beautiful coastline and it's castles. I've discovered there is a cycle route that runs from Newcastle upon Tyne to Edinburgh called "The Coast and Castles Cycle Route" and this would be idea for my 2010 holiday. But I would like to take 2 weeks cycling, a tall order compared to walking. So a draft route would look like this,

Newcastle upon Tyne - Berwick upon Tweed - Dunbar - Edinburgh - Melrose - Wooler - Haltwistle - Carlisle - Barrow in Furness - Blackpool - Slaidburn - Hawes - Tan Hill - Barnard Castle - Osmotherley - Whitby.

A tall order you may think, but with cycling, you have the edge over walking and can push that bit more. Anyway, the map is ordered and will be sorting the route out in due time. Looks like the Pennine Way is out of the window.

My Boyfriend and I love Camping, we've come to the point of our lives that I think It's time to upgrade from a Tent to a Camper-van. Well it seems the last 3 years of Nagging him has finally paid off. Last week he sent me an email of a Camper-van on EBay and asked me what I thought, It wasn't something I would personally buy, but at the time I didn't know it had a shower and poo pooed the idea.

Camping in a Tent is just wonderful, but I think as one gets Older One needs more comforts. When I met my Boyfriend 3 years ago he didn't even like the idea of Camping chairs, but I soon changed his mind, he thinks there great now. He was just a Sleeping Bag and Stove sorter man, didn't believe in comforts when it came to camping.

Camper-vans are simple, you arrive at your destination and put the kettle on, with Tents, you have to un-pack, put your accommodation up, make the bed, set the stove up, and then put the kettle on.

Watch this space for further developments... :D I'm dead excited...
